during times of war. These times of war are depicted in 'The Killer Angels' by Michael
Shaara, which concerns the Civil War, 'A Farewell to Arms' by Ernest Hemingway, which
deals with World War I, and 'Going After Cacciato' by Tim O'Brien, which involves the
Vietnam War. These particular eras each had their own unique blend of art and music.

A Comparison Between Feminist Views on Art

A 7 page research paper which examines two articles. 'Quilts, the Great American Art,' by Patricia Mainardi (1973) and 'Secluded Vision: imagines of feminine experience,' by Anne Higonnet (1987) offer two contrasting visions of women's art in the nineteenth century. On one level the view of each author is essentially the same‹that view being that a male-dominated perspective on art has failed to recognize the intrinsic value of the art forms routinely produced by women as part of their domestic sphere of influence. The writer argues that Mainardi's article is much more persuasive and that Higonnet's is hesitant in its conclusions. No additional sources cited. 90maihi.wps
