The writer discusses how historical structures such as the Chartres Cathedral, Giotto's Arena Chapel, the Church of Madeleine at Vezelay, St. Michael at Hildesheim, St. Etienne, Abbey Church at St. Denis and the Church of Notre Dame all clearly demonstrate the influence that classical antiquity had upon art and architecture of that period.
