Accountability and Business Regulation in the UK
[ send me this paper ]
This 5 page
report discusses the relationship between accountability and
business regulation in the United Kingdom. In short, regulations
exist (ostensibly) to assure that organizations do the ethical
and legal thing in their dealings with customers, other
organizations, and the general public. Regulatory requirements
are not put into place to assure that a bureaucracy is
self-supporting and self-perpetuating but in order to either
correct a wrong or prevent one from taking place. Bibliography
lists 6 sources.

Accounting at RUN, Inc.: Ethical Assessment
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page paper discussing
approaches to correcting at least three years' of "creative bookkeeping." CEO White's solution
may not serve the letter of the law, but it does serve its intent. Kant's emphasis on the intentions
of the players can be viewed in a positive light, and so can the outcome to which Aristotle was
dedicated. Though the new Controller would have rectified the errors by taking a different path,
he can be assured that what he is about to do is indeed ethical. Bibliography lists 3 sources.

Acme Paperclips -- Offices in the United States and Uganda
[ send me this paper ]
This
7 page report discusses the fact that working conditions for
people in the United States and people in Africa are literally
and figuratively a world apart. Not only are the workers of
Uganda most familiar with agricultural work and agricultural
related production (the countries leading export is coffee), they
are generally unaware that their government has or should have
any obligation in terms of providing them with a safe working
environment. Using the example of the fictious “Acme Paperclip”
company, issues of worker safety and protection are discussed.
Bibliography lists 7 sources.
